Faith, Healing & Hope: An Update from Ukraine.

A group of nine people stands together atop a rocky hill with a scenic, forested valley and mountains in the background. One individual holds up a large flag pole displaying the yellow and blue flag of Ukraine. White cursive and print text in the top left reads, "Faith, Healing & Hope: An Update From Ukraine". In the bottom right corner, there is a round white logo for "Smile FORWARD".

Our journey in Ukraine continues, and we are deeply grateful to share an update on the first part of this mission of faith, healing, and hope.

We recently completed our Training of Trainers in faith-based trauma care and healing in partnership with Grace Life Outreach with Ukrainian church leaders and representatives of faith-based organizations from across the country, including Uzhhorod, Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Odessa. Together, we explored an approach to trauma care that brings together faith, an understanding of the biology of trauma, and holistic practices that support healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

These leaders are now carrying what they have learned back to their own communities, sharing these practices and resources with people who continue to live with the profound effects of war. This is at the heart of our work—equipping and walking alongside Ukrainian leaders who know their communities, understand their needs, and are already faithfully serving those around them.

Alongside this work, we participated in rest and renewal retreats hosted by Hope House International for women who lost their husbands in the war or are missing in action, together with their children. These retreats offer a safe and nurturing space to step away from the daily realities of war—to rest, reconnect, experience moments of peace, and find opportunities for healing and renewal.

Our journey throughout Ukraine will continue through November as we travel to communities across the country, walking alongside our Ukrainian brothers and sisters and supporting locally led efforts for trauma healing, resilience, and hope.

We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has made this mission possible through your prayers, encouragement, generosity, and support. Thank you for standing with the people of Ukraine as they continue to demonstrate extraordinary faith and courage and as they seek a just and lasting peace.

We carry your prayers and support with us throughout this journey. 🇺🇦💙💛

With hope and gratitude,
